My, how the passage of time changes things . . .

Quotes from GOP about Bosnia War . . .

ooh, that last one: "Victory means exit strategy, and it's important for the President to explain to us what the exit strategy is."-Governor George W Bush (R-TX)

Another similarity between the two situations is that in both cases the country was told that the troops would be involved only for a limited time. Hmmm, there's a web site so they must still be there. And it's in English.

We lived in Germany when the troops first started going 'downrange.' We've been back in the U.S. for five years now, and we had an assignment in Belgium as well. It's been a while.

Once our troops were committed, and after the main fighting was contained local groups began collections for the children and the refugees. Our family sent the children's outgrown parkas, and a pair of winter horseback riding boots. I don't think any of the children in the Former Yugoslavia (as it was called) were riding horses, but I hope the boots kept someone's feet warm in the winter.
